Alper Yesiltas, a native of Istanbul, initially pursued a career in law. Since 2003 he has been involved in digital photography, passionately exploring new ways to capture and convey scenes and moments. His creative output has been widely recognised and acclaimed, appearing on the covers of books, albums, magazines, and exhibitions worldwide, and has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades in various photography competitions. Following the completion of his master's degree in information technology law from Reading, England, Yesiltas discovered the exciting intersection between artificial intelligence and branches of art, particularly photography. He has since focused on creating works in this field, and "As If Nothing Happened" is the project showcasing his debut efforts. This project employs various AI tools to generate photorealistic portraits that offer alternative narratives within pop culture mythology. Yesiltas imagines the alternative paths that celebrities such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Princess Diana, Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, and Heath Ledger might have taken and depicts them accordingly. Through his work, Yesiltas invites viewers to consider the transformative role that technology and artificial intelligence are playing in reshaping the traditional boundaries of art and imagination. Yesiltas is eager to explore the vast potential of AI technology and uses a diverse range of software tools to realise his artistic vision. Some of these tools enable him to digitally imagine various elements with the aid of AI, while others help create realistic textures, lighting, and photo editing effects. He places a premium on making his images feel realistic, striving to achieve a state where the subjects of his portraits come alive to him as a fan. He derives immense satisfaction from achieving this level of realism and invites viewers to share in this experience through their interactions with the portraits.
