Preparing for the New Automotive Ecosystem

Marcus Dacombe
Product Marketing Director, CDK Global International

Giuseppe Panarese
Head of Seller Services Automotive, Amazon Services Europe

Jared Hamilton
Founder & CEO, DrivingSales.com

Why do we talk less and less about the auto industry and more and more about an ecosystem? Because the dynamics of operation and the traditional economic logics – that used to consider a supply chain quite delimited made of carmakers, national branches and dealer networks – have been outdone by a more open strategy where mobility solutions and relationship formats open up to new configurations. The technology offers new ways of interacting and operating, while retail is deeply modified by the growth of mega-players such as Amazon that promise to be the new pivot representatives for customers through different product categories. This stresses even more the importance of having proper human resources and organizations capable of translating in efficiency and profits their value. This workshop offers an International perspective on these themes to help operators focusing their role in the new emerging scenario.

Reinventing the Dealership

Leonardo Buzzavo

Professor, Università Ca' Foscari

Alessandro Lazzeri
Director of Vehicle Market, Findomestic Banca

Tommaso Bortolomiol
VP Corporate & Industry Relations, Quintegia

According to a point of view that integrates classical thinking and a perspective from physics, nothing is created and nothing is destroyed, while everything is transformed. And it is transformation itself the distinctive mark of time in which we live, phenomenon that strongly involves car dealers, traditional pivot of the auto industry between carmakers and customers. Every human being can see that one of the secrets of the entire existence is balance, mix, right proportions. Reinventing the dealership means being able to do this on several fronts: balancing incremental improvements with radical innovations, remixing work factors (of business, digital, human), giving new proportions and balance to grounded certainties and opportunities for new questions. The traditional opening session of Automotive Dealer Day offers the best possible vision by Quintegia on this central theme, also bestowing the usual Management Innovation Award on the dealer that managed to move in the right direction.

Car Distribution from Product to Service: Connected, Shared, Electric

Leonardo Buzzavo
President, Quintegia

Professor, Università Ca' Foscari

Massimo Faraò
Marketing Director, Audi Italia

Paolo Lanzoni
Product Marketing Manager, Mercedes-Benz Cars

Riccardo Magnani
Marketing Director, Ford Italia

Why is car distribution so complicated compared to the past? One of the main reason is the great growth of the service dimension, intended as the ability of listening and profiling the customer, of proposing customized solutions, of managing a steadier dialogue with the respective interfaces, of offering mobility solutions that favor the entry for more options in time and space compared to the long-term ownership of a vehicle. This is amplified by technology innovations that make cars more connected, by electrification platforms that change purchasing formulas, by a wide range of solutions of fractional ownership or on-demand mobility services. But shifting the focus from product to service requires a firm commitment, new organizations with suitable processes, technologies and people. This workshop involves some carmaker managers that will discuss how innovation in terms of product and technology is having an impact on business for carmakers, dealers and third parties involved.

Dealer Value and M&A

Tommaso Bortolomiol
VP Corporate & Industry Relations, Quintegia

Erin Kerrigan
Founder & Managing Director, Kerrigan Advisors

How much is a car dealership worth? It’s a theme that has gained much more importance in the past few years, given the process of growing concentration among distribution operators that has affected and is increasingly affecting the majority of markets. Elements such as the complexities in settling in the new competitive scenario, the need for scale, the difficulties in ensuring an inter-generation continuity foster a rather vivid market of mergers and acquisitions. Erin Kerrigan, the key speaker of this workshop, has developed a deep experience on the field and has founded one of the leading consulting companies for this kind of operations in the US and at an International level. Interested professionals could find in this session a series of contents that are extremely important to enhance their company and orient their entrepreneurial journey in the industry.

Omnichannel Retail & Customer Experience

Luca Montagner
Senior Advisor, Quintegia

Associate Director, ICDP

Tommaso Carboni
Regional Client Lead, Google

Chiara Angeli
Sales & Marketing Director, Volvo Car Italia

Andreas Barchetti
CEO, Gruppo Barchetti

For most car distribution professionals, managing the business means exercising as much as possible to think in terms of retail, in other words of the end customer. This is not easy because it requires the ability to translate their businesses into an omnichannel perspective, meaning to overcome the physical-digital fracture and therefore the silos that often divide roles, processes and metrics in the company. Customers live their own journey (customer journey) that embraces several channels and tools and consequently the company must adapt. Being chosen in the market calls for working constantly to improve customer experience: not the one planned at the beginning but rather the one that every customer lives in various touch-points and moments of interaction with the company. This workshop gathers testimonies on this topic to motivate operators to adjust their strategies towards this direction.
